Climate In Goa

The province of Goa is situated on the western coast of the Indian cape flanked by the latitudes 15°48’00” North to 14°53’54” North and longitudes 74° 20'13" East to 73° 40'33" East.

Located between the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, goa is considered to be a coast state. Goa has a warm and humid climate all year round, which is mainly attributed to the peaceful south-easterly breezes. It is seen that the temperature does not vary much throughout the year and generally ranges between 20 and 34 degrees during daytime.

Contrary to this, temperatures at night in goa can drop to as low as 22 to 24 degrees. April and May are the hottest month of the year.

And it is highly recommended that you do not choose this time of the year to visit goa. Goa is one place that hardly ever experiences high deviation in temperatures during the different seasons of the year. The monsoon initiates from the month of June and last right up till September.

The Southwest Monsoon brings rainfall of about 2,800 - 3,500 mm. The month of July is historically the worst month that is associated with heavy rainfall. While planning your visit to goa, you are advised to take due consideration of this factor.

Tourists checking the weather forecast on a regular basis will find that the department frequently forecasts cloud and rain.  The short cool and the best time of the season last from the mid of December to the end of February. Tourists are advised to plan their visits during this time of the year with temperatures ranging from 21 C to 31 C.

As the average temperature varies from 20 to 34 degrees, tourists visiting the beaches can spend their daytime wearing informal wear such as shorts, tank tops, swimsuits, short-sleeved shirts and light slacks. At night, the temperature may drop considerably. Hence warmer clothing is advisable.
